Executive Director signs partnership agreement with Hailiang Educational Group in Zhuji City, Zhejiang, China

Frederick, MD – Mr. Guy Djoken, Chairman of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations Working Group and Executive Director of UNESCO Center for Peace concluded a week working visit at Hailiang Educational Group in Zhuji City, Zhejiang, China with the signing of a MOU with Mr. Ying Xin, General Principal of Hailiang Educational Group on November 15, 2012.

The MOU reiterate the commitment of both parties to work together for the successful implementation of the 2014 International Model United Nations Model United Nations/ Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture and Mathematics (IMUN/STEAM) competition in Hailiang.

Talking about the MOU, Mr. Djoken stated ” This is the consecration of a long and hard work by Hailiang General Vice Principal Mrs. Grace Jihong Zhang and her team, UNESCO Center for Peace directors Mrs. Xiaoming Zhu and Mr. Seth Roberts who have been working tirelessly on this project since December 2009. I commend them for this successful outcome as I look forward to working even harder to build the global network needed for the successful implementation of 2014 IMUN/STEAM.

During the visit to Zhuji, China, Mr. Djoken also met with government official such as Zhuji Communist Party Secretary Mr.QianSanxiiong,ZhujiCityDeputyMayorforEducationMrs.YuYueand HailiangGroupCo.,LTD.Board Chairman Mr. Hailiang Feng. The Hailiang Group was recently listed as 186th of China’s Top 500 Enterprises and 78th of Forbes China Top 100 Corporations.

Mr. Djoken added ” This current initiative is our way of contributing towards the successful implementation of
the MDG #8. – Global Partnership for Development- As stated in the recent UN report on MDGs, “With three (out of eight) MDG targets achieved 3 years before 2015, Global Partnership for development (Goal # 8) remain a key to 2015 success.

UNESCO Center for Peace is the flagship UNESCO Center in the U.S. working under the auspices of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.
